Welcome to Sew a Softie Day at Fish Museum and Circus! Sew a Softie Day?! How could I resist getting involved?

 I learned to sew by making dolls, and have made and designed many doll and animal patterns since then. You can find some in my book Sew Fun: 20 Projects for the Whole Family, and more at Bo Twal, an international doll project. But when I was thinking about what to make for this tutorial I decided on something different. It is summer here in New York and summer is all about ice cream. So I channelled my inner Claes Oldenberg and designed a giant ice cream cone pillow. Great for playing with or just lounging around on!

Sew a Softie - Cloud Pillows

Welcome back to Sew a Softie! We have Cloud Pillows! With ball fringe! Because everything is better with ball fringe. And everything is even better with my favorite 10-year-old model, especially when she is also a unicorn.

These cloud pillows are really simple to make. I have provided a template for large and small clouds, but it is just as easy to draw your own shape. For the fabric, I used cotton velveteen and a textured woven cotton. Use what you like! Linen, wool, cotton, corduroy would all work fine.

My favorite 10-year-old model is back to show off another project and (yay!) my favorite 14-year-old decided to join her!
