The Felt Heart Sachet is sweet little project just in time for Valentine’s Day, but also perfect for any day. You can make just one or make a bunch assembly line style for everyone you love. My heart are about 4” not including the ribbon loop, but you can make them any size you like.
Hello there! I am so excited to introduce my new menagerie, Scandinavian Animal Friends! These guys were made for the Oakshott Scandinavian Challenge from Sew Mama Sew. Oh Sew Mama Sew, thank you for the opportunity to neglect my kids and all my other work. What a great time I had with these amazing Oakshott cottons!
Welcome to Sew a Softie Day at Fish Museum and Circus! Sew a Softie Day?! How could I resist getting involved?
I learned to sew by making dolls, and have made and designed many doll and animal patterns since then. You can find some in my book Sew Fun: 20 Projects for the Whole Family, and more at Bo Twal, an international doll project. But when I was thinking about what to make for this tutorial I decided on something different. It is summer here in New York and summer is all about ice cream. So I channelled my inner Claes Oldenberg and designed a giant ice cream cone pillow. Great for playing with or just lounging around on!
Welcome back to Sew a Softie! We have Cloud Pillows! With ball fringe! Because everything is better with ball fringe. And everything is even better with my favorite 10-year-old model, especially when she is also a unicorn.
These cloud pillows are really simple to make. I have provided a template for large and small clouds, but it is just as easy to draw your own shape. For the fabric, I used cotton velveteen and a textured woven cotton. Use what you like! Linen, wool, cotton, corduroy would all work fine.
A Rainbow Quilt! Perfect for sweet dreams or daydreams, this double rainbow quilt utilizes simple bias tape appliqué. This quilt is just right with the Cloud Pillows from my previous post. My favorite 10-year-old model is back to show off another project and (yay!) my favorite 14-year-old decided to join her!
